Linda Dabney: the inspiring woman on the shortlist for CNN Choose for Good

If you saw the “You Matter to Us” public service announcement you probably remember the feelgood story of Linda Dabney. She was a 57-year-old single mother in Atlanta, Georgia, who sold $40 worth of clothes door-to-door after losing her job as a retail sales representative.

Linda went on to donate more than $8 million worth of clothes to underprivileged children, as well as books and computers.

It’s an emotional and uplifting story, but it’s not the only successful story of a single mum who has made a difference.

The people chosen as CNN’s 10th Annual CNN Choose for Good will spend the next year working alongside CNN reporters to share their stories, online and in-person.

In total, the contestants will help other children in the US and elsewhere, through education, healthcare and charity work.
